Hardly a ‘West Gippslander’ but on a recent return to pastures old, I was delighted to find some Blue Fingers were still hanging on at Heyfield.
There are nine species of the genus but only Cyanicula caerulea grows in Victoria, mostly in the open forests of central Victoria. It generally likes stony soils with thin understory.
Described as, “Can be locally common”, I have found Blue Fingers at just the two locations - the Heyfield Golf Course and the nearby Heyfield Flora Reserve.

Bit of a favourite and it was good to see it again recently.
